209 active cases in the Pontiac region

Regional health authority CISSSO released their first update to the COVID stats for 2022. Like other regions in Quebec, cases in the Outaouais grew, reaching 7,334 active cases today.

While the vast majority of cases are in Gatineau, with 5,076, the Pontiac Local Health Network (RLS) experienced a sharp increase from 94 to 209 in less than a week. The MRC Papineau also has a high number of cases with 1,146. Des Collines de l’Outaouais has 658 while Vallée-de-la-Gatineau has 162. The location of 80 cases was listed as to be determined.

Currently there are 42 people hospitalized, with three of those in intensive care, up from the previous update on December 30 where those figures were 23 and 1 respectively. The number of infected employees also jumped during that time span, from 84 to 159.

For now, the cases by individual municipality have not been released. This statistic is usually updated on Thursdays.

The CISSSO is holding a press conference tomorrow (January 6) at 2 p.m. to take stock of COVID-19 and vaccination in the region. The spokespersons confirmed for this virtual press briefing will be:
