On February 23rd, the Quebec Federation of Municipalities (la fédération Québécoise des municipalités), the FQM, issued a press release titled La forêt au cœur des discussions des administrateurs (the forest is at the heart of the administrators discussions).

The FQM took the opportunity to highlight groups of forestry communities whose mandate will be to represent the interests of said municipalities to the government and to embellish the positions of the FQM in the forestry industry. Members of this group include the Warden of the Pontiac MRC and Mayor of Fort-Coulonge Raymond Durocher. He will be joined on this committee by various mayors and Wardens from all over Quebec. Including the Warden of the MRC Témiscamingue Arnaud Warolin with whom the MRC Pontiac has an established relationship.

The FQM states that 225 municipalities are partly dependent on the forestry industry in Quebec, with a workforce of 60,000 workers.
