The Sûreté du Québec has deployed divers and a helicopter to find a snowmobiler from L’Isle-aux-Allumettes, who has been missing since last night.
It was the snowmobilers’ relatives who contacted the Sûreté du Québec. The snowmobiler was last seen by their relatives around 8 p.m. Friday evening (February 12). The search began around 1 am this morning, in collaboration with the Pontiac West Fire Department. Reinforcements from other municipalities were also contacted to participate in the research.
“Considering that there are traces of snowmobiling which have been observed in the Chapeau sector on the Ottawa River in a portion up to the white water, the searches are concentrated at this place for the moment” specified the Sergeant Claude Denis of the Sûreté du Québec.
Police officers from the Sûreté du Québec are also continuing ground searches. The helicopter was flying over the area around L’Isle-aux-Allumettes and the Ottawa River on Saturday afternoon.
