The information session to inform the residents affected by the floods was held yesterday in the Parish hall of Fort-Coulonge where about 75 people showed up. The vast majority of the people present were residents of the Municipality of Mansfield.

Various sectors and government departments explained the services offered and certain procedures needed before evacuees can return to their homes. Quebec Public Safety provided a comprehensive procedural information guide that people need to follow before they can move back in. This guide is available at the Mansfield Municipality office. Hydro-Québec offers a help line at 1-888-385-7252.

At the meeting, residents’ questions were more about the compensation offered to the victims. The Ministry of Public Security has provided information to that effect. People showed some impatience with the presentation, until the Public Safety representative explained the amounts that will be handed over in consideration of the different situations.

For more information, residents are advised to visit the public security website at www.securitepublique.gouv.qc.ca.
