Head-on collision on Rte. 301 claims two lives

A head-on collision on Rte. 301 in Litchfield on Friday afternoon (July 28) claimed the lives of two Pontiac residents.

According to Sgt. Catherine Bernard of the Sûreté Du Québec, at around 3 p.m. emergency crews were called to a head-on collision between two vehicles on Rte. 301 near the intersection with chemin Acres. The vehicle travelling north crossed into the other lane and struck a vehicle headed in the opposite direction.

Each vehicle had one occupant, both of whom were transported to hospital, where they were declared dead. The victims were Carlene Dellaire, 52, of Thorne and Andre Loranger, 84, of Otter-Lake.

The highway was closed temporarily while police conducted an investigation and re-opened later that evening.
