Entrepreneur Profile in the MRC Pontiac

On January 11, the Pontiac SADC and the Pontiac MRC presented the results of a survey to assess the profile of entrepreneurs in the region.

The study, commissioned by the SADC, the MRC of Pontiac and Emploi Québec and conducted by the firm Zins Beauchesne et associés, created a regional profile of Pontiac businesses.

SADC Director General Rhonda Perry explains the goal behind this project.

Of the 645 companies in the region, 244 participated in the survey between May and July 2017. Here are some highlights of the report:
• 45% of business owner and entrepreneurs are women;
• The average age of a business owners is 54 years old and the owner has worked on average at their business for 19 years;
• 36% of business owner and entrepreneurs have a high school diploma;
• 32.8% plan to leave their business within the next five years;
• The Businesses are primarily small businesses, and 53.6% of them generate annual revenues of less than $ 250,000;
• 59% mainly serve the local market.
