The Fort-Coulonge Mansfield Patro hosting St-Jean Baptiste celebrations

22 June 2022 à 12:00 am

There will be plenty to do in the Pontiac for this Fête nationale. In addition to the activities planned in L’Île-du-Grand-Calumet this Saturday June 25, the Patro de Fort-Coulonge Mansfield will celebrate St-Jean with several activities. On June 24 at noon, the Patro is inviting boaters to decorate their vessels with Quebec’s colours and travel between the Davidson wharf to the their location.

“We would like to make a parade. We would like for people to decorate their boat with the colors of the national holiday and then go down the river. Let them come meet us here at the Patro,” explained organizer Suzanne Dazé (translated). “So, the departure is at noon. There, we make a small change from the start. I hope people will know because we’re going to get off the wharf at Davidson, because people need to get their boat in the water, at noon and then we go to the Patro for 1 o’clock. Then, the party begins, it is the open day of the Fête nationale, at 1 p.m., which begins at the Patro.”

From the Patro de Fort-Coulonge Mansfield, Suzanne Dazé summarized the main activities that will be offered to the public throughout the Pontiac, starting at 1 p.m. on Friday, June 24.

“It really is a family party. We’re going to have a canteen on the premises,” she said (translated). “The Patro site is open to the public and we will have groups of facilitators who will supervise. And, then, we will have singers, René Bertrand and Justin Bertrand who will come to entertain us with their beautiful music and song. And, then, we’re going to have lots of door prizes for the children, little flags to give to the children too. They are invited to dress in the colors of the Fête nationale which is blue, yellow and white. We invite people too, it’s going to be a lot of fun.”
