The Fédération québécoise des municipalités (FQM) welcomes the national policy on architecture and land use planning, presented this week by the Minister of Municipal Affairs and Housing, Andrée Laforest, and the Minister of Culture and Communications, Nathalie Roy. The FQM underlines the work carried out by the government for the tabling of this proposal and undertakes to contribute positively to the work for its implementation over the next few years.

“Spatial planning is essentially a political act and I am particularly happy to see that the government shares this vision. Elected officials must ensure that the particularities of each of their municipalities in this area are taken into account. As spokesperson for the regions, the FQM is also delighted with the recognition of the role of development plans as integrating documents for the various regional plans. For our members, the plan must be the meeting point between government objectives and the vision developed by elected officials for the planning and development of our communities,” declared the president of the FQM, mayor of Sainte-Catherine-de-Hatley and Warden of the MRC de Memphrémagog, Jacques Demers (Translated).
