Another step taken to transfer the municipality of Notre-Dame-de-la-Salette to the MRC Papineau

For several months, the municipality of Notre-Dame-de-la-Salette in Outaouais has been involved in a transfer to move from the MRC des Collines-de-l’Outaouais to the MRC de Papineau. In a press release, the three municipal institutions say they are happy to present the concurring resolutions that were adopted to the municipal council of Notre-Dame-de-la-Salette, as well as to the councils of the mayors of the two MRCs during extraordinary meetings.

The council of the municipality of Notre-Dame-de-la-Salette asks the government to detach its territory from the territory of the regional county municipality of Collines-de-l’Outaouais which it is part and to reattach it to that of the regional county municipality of Papineau.

Thanks to the data collected through the studies carried out, the Council of the MRC de Papineau confirms its interest in officially undertaking the process of transfer of MRC in collaboration with the municipality of Notre-Dame-de-la-Salette and the MRC des Collines-de-l’Outaouais, which is essential to ensure its success.

This concurring resolution follows a first study carried out by the three municipal institutions with the technical assistance of the Ministry of Municipal Affairs and Housing (MAMH), which was officially submitted in January 2021 to the municipal council of Notre-Dame-de-la-Salette, as well as to the councils of the mayors of the MRC des Collines-de-l’Outaouais and Papineau. Subsequently, a second study on the financial and administrative impacts carried out by the firm Raymond Chabot Grant Thornton was presented to the municipal council of NotreDame-de-la-Salette, as well as to the councils of mayors of the MRC des Collines-de-l’Outaouais and Papineau.

The territory of the MRC de Papineau is located in the southeast of the Outaouais region, includes 24 municipalities and covers an area of ​​3,203 km2. Notre-Dame-de-la-Salette would therefore become the 25th municipality in this MRC.
