Several municipalities in the Pontiac region are affected by Royal Canadian Air Force aerial military exercises
Royal Canadian Air Force military exercises will take place from May 19th to June 15th, 2026, in the Petawawa area of Ontario, as well as in several municipalities in the Pontiac region.
According to a National Defence press release issued on May 13th, the areas of Mansfield-et-Pontefract, Sheenboro, Otter Lake, Lac-Nilgaut, and L’Isle-aux-Allumettes will be part of the training zones for the Tactical Aviation Basic Course.
During this period, residents may see CH-146 Griffon and CH-147F Chinook helicopters flying at low altitude. Military simulations involving blank rounds, smoke, and flares are also planned in certain authorized areas.
The Canadian Armed Forces note that these are controlled exercises and there is no cause for concern. Local authorities will be kept informed of the progress of operations.
The program aims to train helicopter crews for complex tactical missions and to support joint military operations in Canada and abroad.
