Police are investigating the drowning of a two-year-old girl in St-Rémi, Quebec. CBC is reporting that officers with the Sûreté du Québec were called to the home just after noon on Thursday, where they found the toddler unconscious.

Rescue workers attempted to resuscitate her on the spot, and then transferred her to hospital, where she was later pronounced dead.  It appears the toddler drowned in an above-ground pool, located in the fenced-in back yard.

Police say the girl's parents were at home at the time. The mother has been treated for shock.  Thursday's drowning comes four days after an 18-month-old girl suffered the same fate, and a week after a 16-month-old girl died in similar circumstances.
