The Pontiac Reception Centre will be ready in January
The Pontiac Reception Centre in Shawville will open next January, a month behind schedule.
After 12 years of waiting, the Center for Health and Social Services (CSSS) Pontiac finally open its new shelter for seniors. The old center, built in 1976, no longer met the standards of the Department of Health and Social Services.
The new facility will be more responsive to the needs of residents and staff. Each resident will have their own room. The corridors will be wider and better lit.
The rooms are especially equipped with a hoist, which will facilitate the work of employees.
Changes appear also in the long term.
The new center has 50 beds, as in the old building. Twenty-five beds hosting long-term care, however, remain in hospital for financial reasons.
With the new center, the administration wants to make life more pleasant for residents.
