MP for Pontiac Will Amos has issued an open letter yesterday in the Newspaper Le Droit entitled: Le fiasco de l’amiante "The fiasco of asbestos." The letter begins by stating the history of asbestos is a troubling narrative. He says Canada's decision to put in place a comprehensive ban by 2018 will save lives and prevent painful diseases. He also argues that this decision comes decades too late as thousands of Canadians have died from various diseases caused by asbestos. He concluded by mentioning that the asbestos fiasco has already been very expensive in Canada. This letter from Will Amos co-produced with the environmental lawyer; David R. Boyd may be accessed via the newspaper Le Droit website in the opinions section.
