Municipality of Clarendon cautions Sand Bay residents to test their water

Municipality of Clarendon cautions Sand Bay residents to test their water

4 October 2022 à 12:00 am

After a resident of the cottaging community of Sand Bay reported that a test of their well water had come back positive for E. coli bacteria, the Municipality of Clarendon has ordered test kits for residents to purchase.

Mayor Ed Walsh told CHIP 101.9 that after a resident reported the contamination on Thursday, they were advising residents of the community to be cautious and boil their water until it can be tested.

He said that the municipality has also ordered test kits, which will be available at the municipal office early this week. Residents will be able to purchase the kits at the cost the municipality purchased them, which is a little over $40.

The provincial guidelines in regards to E. coli contamination are available here.
