William Amos responds to funding announcement to implement climate and energy efficiency measures

On Friday, December 15, Minister of Environment and Climate Change Catherine McKenna announced that the Government of Canada will provide more than $ 1 billion for the Low Carbon Economy Leadership Fund. Over the next five years to the provinces of British Columbia, Alberta, Ontario, Quebec, New Brunswick and Nova Scotia will have access to the funding.

In a press release Pontiac MP William Amos, states “In the Pontiac, these investments will allow more farmers and those working in the forestry industry to adopt best practices, for more companies to modernize their buildings, and more industries to increase efficiency in increasilling innovative ways.”

The Leadership Fund, as a whole, is expected to reduce Canada’s greenhouse gas emissions by more than three million tonnes by 2030; This is about the same amount as are expected with the proposed regulations for heavy-duty vehicles and engines announced in the spring of 2017.
