Western Quebec has chosen a new Chair

The Position of Chair of the Western Québec School Board, which has be vacant since the passing of James Shea, will now be filled by Alain Guy, formerly the vice-chair School Board. Guy was appointed Tuesday night at the Council of commissionaires meeting and will now become the fifth person to hold this position since the introduction of school boards by language in 1998.

Before taking up his new position, Alain Guy was first commissioner for the Draveurs School Board in 1990. He was elected as commissioner for Western Québec in 1998 where he chaired internal committees for twenty years and represented the school board with the Quebec English School Boards Association (QESBA). Four years ago, Alain became vice-president of the Council of Commissioners of Western Quebec. According to the statement issued, the commissioners and members of the administration held a minute of silence in memory of James Shea, at the inauguration on Tuesday.
