Water level declining but measures still in place to help the victims

The level of the Ottawa River is still very high everywhere across the Pontiac. According to the most recent forecasts, the level is only expected to drop slowly which means that many people are still evacuated in several municipalities. Even certain infrastructures are still off limits due to the Floods such as the park located in Fort-Coulonge at the corner of Baume and Aubrey streets.

The Red Cross will be visiting Fort-Coulonge today, Wednesday May 22nd at 520 Baume Street (Former Lion Hall) to register victims. They will be on site from 9:00am to 6:00pm.

It should be noted that the municipality of Fort-Coulonge issued a publication confirming that the sewer system remains closed in the flooded (evacuated) areas of the municipality. It was also mentioned that the municipal team is working on restarted the system as quickly as possible. The municipality says that it will notify the affected residents as soon as it has been restarted. Specifying that the tap water is still drinkable and that it is still possible for victims to take showers at Sieur de Coulonge high school from Monday to Thursday, 6pm to 8pm.
