Tuesday, the Western Québec School Board (WQSB) opened 16 out of the 19 elementary schools and daycare centers associated with the school board in accordance with the Québec Governement’s directives.

In an interview Monday, the Chair of the WSQB Alain Guy explained that according to registrations, only 14.2% of Western Québec elementary students would initially be returning to school this week.

According to Alain Guy, learning supplies and stimulus packages have been provided to the parents who have chosen to keep their child at home during this time.

As for the students returning to school, the Western Québec school board has established health protocols within its schools to ensure the safety of its students and staff. The WQSB staff will ensure that these new measures are strictly followed by the students.
