ESSC students will have a first had experience in democratic. Offered by the General Directorate of Quebec Elections (DGEQ), the activity ” Voters en Herb ” is an electoral simulation during which the students of secondary school will be able to vote at school for the real candidates who appear in their municipality.

The structure of the activity helps to make young people understand the importance of being well informed before going to vote by encouraging them to discuss politics at home and allowing them to ask questions to candidates. These young people will have the right to vote in the municipal elections of 2021; this activity is therefore good practice to get them ready for future elections.

The “Voters en Herb ” activity will officially begin on October 9. The young people will stand at the polls in their school on November 2 and the results will not be made known until November 6, the day after the municipal elections, thus making it possible to compare the results of the school activity with those of the voting public.
