Volunteers needed for sandbag distribution in Mansfield

Volunteers needed for sandbag distribution in Mansfield

8 May 2018 à 12:00 am

The number of sandbags in the municipality of Mansfield-et-Pontefract is rapidly decreasing and volunteers are still being asked to help fill the bags, or to help citizens in need. Sandbags are distributed at the municipal sandpit, located at 32 Lac-de-la-Truite. Vigilance and the utmost caution is being asked of the citizens during the flood season.

Throughout the weekend, municipal authorities monitored the water levels closely in the Pontiac and took preventative measures against the event of a flood.

Following the rains and the rapid snowmelt, the municipality of Mansfield issued a press release regarding the levels of the Coulonge and Ottawa rivers, which have been continuously rising increasing the risk of a breach of its banks. The municipal Council of Mansfield asks all citizens whose homes are located in flood zones to ensure the safety of their family members and protect their property.
