The water level of the Ottawa River are on the rise

1 May 2018 à 12:00 am

This year, the spring melt will cause water levels to rise along the Ottawa River, according to the Ottawa River Regulation Planning Board. Water levels in the Ottawa River may increase rapidly at times, but are expected to remain within the normal ranges of fluctuations associated with the spring.

The expected warmer temperatures are conducive to the melting of snow. Combined with recent precipitation, spring runoff in the northern and central portions of the river basin is expected to continue. These hydrological conditions could produce minor floods in the coming weeks. The low lying areas are regularly flooded during the spring melt. Should the risk of flooding increase, Ottawa River Regulation Planning Board will inform the public.
