This week, the Syndicat du personnel de l’enseignement des Hautes-Rivières (Teachers union) and the Hauts-Bois-de-l’Outaouais School Board are highlighting Teacher Appreciation Week. The theme this year is to thank 1,216,791 times the teachers, one for each students who attend schools in Quebec. The president of the Syndicat, Daniel Boisjoli, hopes above all for concrete gestures towards teachers, and not just “thanks”.

Daniel Boisjoli also drew attention to Bill 40, which, in his opinion, endangers the professional autonomy of teachers.

As a reminder, Teacher Appreciation Week has been celebrated in schools since 1994 and this year is the 26th edition.

The full interview in French with Daniel Boisjoli is available here.
