The flow of the Ottawa River decreases slowly

21 May 2019 à 12:00 am

According to the Ottawa River Regulatory Planning Board, the reservoirs in the upper watershed continue to store spring runoff, allegedly to reduce flood impacts downstream of the river.

In Abitibi-Témiscamingue, the excess runoff where the reservoirs are full are caused by the ongoing rains which is contributing to maintaining the high flows in the river downstream.

In the Mattawa-Pembroke / Westmeath areas, levels are expected to remain fairly stable tomorrow.

In the Coulonge Lake / Deschênes Lake area, water levels are expected to continue to decline slowly over the next few days.

Although the level of the Ottawa River remains high, the municipality of Fort-Coulonge has issued an advisory for those who want to remove their sandbags; they can drop them off at the municipal office, inside the barricades, at 134 Principale Street.
