The daily number of cases decreases significantly, but hospitalizations remain high in the Outaouais

The COVID-19 situation is improving in the Outaouais, with only 15 new cases added as of yesterday for the entire region. On the other hand, the number of hospitalizations remains high with 50 including 8 people still in intensive care.

The situation is improving in the Pontiac
In the Pontiac, after reaching 70 active cases, there are now just over 50 cases, with a total of 52 as of May 4. The municipality of Mansfield now has 74 cases, Fort-Coulonge 35, Shawville 28, Cambpell’s Bay 13, Waltham 7 and Otter Lake 6. Bristol, Bryson, L’Isle-aux-Allumettes, Île-du-Grand-Calumet, Portage-du-Fort, Sheenboro and Thorne all have 5 cases or less, according to data from the Centre intégré de santé et de services sociaux (CISSS) de l’Outaouais. Vaccination continues
In the Outaouais, 152,474 people have received a first dose of a COVID-19 vaccine so far. In Quebec, since the start of vaccinations, 3,256,401 people have received a first dose, or more than 35% of the population.

Note that tomorrow people aged 40 to 44 years will be able to make an appointment to receive their first dose of a vaccine.
