The Sûreté du Québec mentioned that in response to government directives issued to counter the spread of the coronavirus (COVID-19), their police interventions will be adapted throughout Quebec for the break period starting last Firday (February 26) until March 7.

“In this context, and since March 2020, the Sûreté du Québec has the mandate to provide assistance to the Ministry of Health and Social Services in the context of the application of the Public Health Act. To do this, the Sûreté du Québec will ensure an increased presence in certain key areas in the municipalities with regard to the various sanitary measures in force, according to the zones prescribed by the government ”mentions the Sûreté du Québec.

The Sûreté du Québec explains that with this in mind, preventive patrols will be targeted, particularly in resorts, outdoor public places, restaurant areas, as well as special attention paid to gatherings in private residences. As the break period may generate greater traffic on the recreational and tourist trails, the police will continue their police operations in order to ensure safety and compliance with the various regulations in force.

The Sûreté du Québec encourages citizens to continue their efforts in the fight against the spread of COVID-19, while respecting the government directives in place. According to the Sûreté du Québec, intervention strategies aim above all to encourage the collaboration of citizens to respect health measures with a concern for the health and well-being of the community.
