École des Petits-Ponts is one of some fifty schools nominated in the country as BOKS school for the year 2019-2020.

“For several years we have been working very hard to bring fun, innovative activities that encourage students to move both inside and outside of our schools,” said School Director Stéphane Bouchard.

BOKS is a physical activity program designed to get kids moving and encourage them to adopt a healthy lifestyle. The organization said it received more than 120 applications from across Canada, which presented schools striving to provide physical activity during the day for students.

The director of the École des Petits-Ponts gave a few examples of initiatives that were organized during the 2019-2020 school year, which were worth the nomination at the establishment. Among other things, he mentioned the outdoor program, the Ski at school program, participation in the great Pierre Lavoie challenge, as well as cultural programs such as Génie en herbe and improvisation at school.

These activities were organized in all of the Petits-Ponts establishments in the most recent school year. “It demonstrates all the innovative character and the way to get young people to move and enrich themselves in different ways than the traditional class,” explains Mr. Bouchard.
