TNO: Spread of Aquatic Invasive Species

Shortly before the Mayors’ Council meeting on March 21, the Council of TNO’ Lake Nilgaut heard a presentation from the MRC Pontiac’s Department of the Environment on the threat of invasive aquatic species in the lakes of the territory. Nearly 25 lakes have a high risk of contamination, which could have serious ecological and economic consequences. A proposal to install bilingual signs to make users aware of the importance of washing boats was passed. Thirty panels will be installed near these lakes and on the five access roads to the region, before the start of summer season.
