Sûreté du Québec: Summary of the long Easter holiday

The Sûreté du Québec released statistics about their road operations during the Easter long weekend. They reviled 8,300 tickets were issued in the province. For the Outaouais-Laurentides region, 1769 tickets were handed out and 9 people were arrested for impaired driving.

In addition to speeding tickets, the police paid particular attention to bad driving habits that contribute to crashes that result in serious injury or death. These include distracted driving, not wearing a seatbelt and impaired driving by alcohol, drugs, or a combination of both.

Also during the long weekend, 105 collisions resulting in injury, occurred in the Sûreté du Québec jurisdiction, which represents a decrease of 23.9% compared to the same period last year. The SQ asks that drivers adopt responsible behaviors to help keep Quebec roads safe.
