Strike continues for the Family day care centers in the Pontiac

18 September 2020 à 12:00 am

In a recent interview with the union representative of the Family daycare centers (CPE) in the Pontiac Lissa Laroche, stated that the strikes for daycare centers will continue indefinitely as of Monday if the demands of the CPE’s aren’t met.

This comes after the Quebec government began requesting that family centers to provide educational files for the children, among other things. Laroche added that the reality of Family daycare centers in the Pontiac is shared by the rest of the province.

This strike will be the continuation of last Wednesday’s where representatives of the Fédération des intervenantes en petite enfance du Québec (FIPEQ-CSQ) in charge of family education services (RSE) in the Outaouais held a strike in the streets of Buckingham to protest the lack of progress on the negotiation table for the regulated and subsidized family environment.

The FIPEQ-CSQ, and the CPE Pontiac union, are demanding better quality work environments as well as 16.75 $/h in pay rather than 12.83 $/h. Note, this strike is scheduled for September 21-22-23 in Buckingham outside of Minister Lacombe’s office.

More details can be found in the full interview with Lissa Laroche here.
