Special Planning Zone in Seven Questions

26 August 2019 à 12:00 am

The special planning zone (SPZ), established by the Quebec government to limit construction and renovation in flood zones, continues to raise concerns across the municipalities affected by these measures. The Councillor in urban planning at the Quebec ministry of municipal affairs and housing, David Alfaro-Clark, reviewed the document issued by the Quebec Government regarding the seven main questions asked by residents on the subject. Among other things, one of the documents questions was why municipalities were not consulted before the establishment of the first version of the SPZ map.

The ZIS: what is happening now?
The municipalities effected by the SPZ had until August 19th to submit requests to the Quebec government for modifications or removal from the SPZ. CHIP 101.9 asked Alfaro-Clark if requests are still being taken by the government.

The complete interview with David Alfaro-Clark on the seven main questions regarding the SPZ map can be found here.
