Road work and staffing top budget issues in the Municipality of Pontiac

17 February 2022 à 12:00 am

The Municipality of Pontiac has adopted its 2022 budget. Speaking to CHIP 101.9, Mayor Roger Larose said that the budget was a difficult one because they were without a director of public works as well as a director of finance. He added that they had hired a human resources firm to help them fill the positions.

In Quyon, the refurbishing of chemins Murray and Clarendon was allocated $2,000,000 for 2022 in the three-year capital expenditures program. Another $1,300,000 was allocated for chemin Bronson-Bryant this year. Larose said he would have preferred only resurfacing Murray instead of more extensive repairs in order to save some money, but the project had been started before he was elected.

The mill rate of the municipality increased from 71 cents per $100 evaluation to 77 cents, and the overall size of the budget increased roughly 5%, from $9,631,820 to $10,126,089.
