Review of COVID-19 confirmed cases – June 3, 2020

The Outaouais region has so far reported 547 cases of COVID-19 since the start of the crisis. The Pontiac local service network (RLS) still has 5 cases or less, all located in the municipality of Pontiac. No cases have been identified in the MRC Pontiac.

The number of hospitalizations at the COVID-19 designated center in Gatineau is 13, two of which are in the intensive care unit. Of the 547 people infected with the virus, 325 have recovered and 200 identified cases are still active. There are 22 deaths in the region.

The Syndicat des travailleuses et travailleurs de la santé et des services sociaux de l’Outaouais (STTSSSO-CSN), announced Tuesday the death of a second worker from the CHSLD Lionel-Émond. The identity of this person was released on Wednesday. This is Patrick Péladeau, a beneficiary attendant aged 56. According to the STTSSSO-CSN, he had more than 33 years of service in the health sector.

“Our thoughts are with them. This beneficiary attendant has been at the front all his career helping others. It’s a great sadness to hear of his passing. To honor his memory, a candlelight vigil will be held in front of the CHSLD Lionel-Émond Thursday evening at 8 p.m.

At the provincial level, the most recent data on the evolution of COVID-19 in Quebec show 291 new cases in the last 24 hours, bringing the total number of people infected to 51,884. During this same period , 59 new deaths were recorded, to which are added 22 deaths which occurred before May 27, which leads to a total of 4,794, while the number of hospitalizations decreased by 34 to reach a cumulative of 1,141. 158 are in intensive care, a decrease of 3.

Remember that to limit the spread of the coronavirus as much as possible, the following measures are always recommended:
– wash your hands frequently with soap and water for twenty seconds, especially when coming from outside
– disinfect your hands with an alcohol-based solution if you do not have access to soap and water
– keep a distance of two meters from other people, or if this is not possible, wear a face covering, especially in public transport
– avoid internal gathering
– for any gathering in a private outdoor place, respect the maximum of 10 people. It is strongly recommended that these come from a maximum of three different addresses
– limit your trips as much as possible

If symptoms appear, it is always essential:
– to isolate oneself
– to cough inside his elbow
– throw away your handkerchiefs immediately after use and wash your hands afterwards
