During the meeting of the MRC Pontiac last Wednesday, a motion for a resolution to support the forestry industry in the Pontiac in the short term was developed. Mansfield Mayor, Gilles Dionne, insisted that a mention of the Davidson Energy project be included.

The regional director of the MRC Pontiac Régent Dugas explained that the short-term objective was to raise awareness in the department in order to support entrepreneurs in the forestry sector as soon as possible.

MRC Pontiac warden Jane Toller also suggested that a mention of Davidson Energy could be included. She also mentioned that she believed the project could potentially see the light of day in the short term.

The resolution should therefore include a reference to the Davidson Energy project. The objective is to demonstrate the needs of the industry in order to obtain assistance, among others, from the ministère des Forêts, de la Faune et des Parcs (MFFP) of Quebec.

Recall that it was revealed last March that the Davidson Power project does not have a supply guarantee.

A French report on the subject, which was discussed at the public meeting of the MRC Pontiac, is available here.
