Residents restart the Conversation on the use of the PPJ trails

Last night, during question period at the meeting of the Mayors of the MRC, certain organisations were in attendance. The conversation in regards to the use of the PPJ was restarted.

The Club Quad du Pontiac, the Pontiac Snowmobile Drivers Association, the Club Moto-Neige Pingouin and the Green PPJ Vert were the organisations on site to discuss different plans for the PPJ: for cyclists, for quads or for snowmobiles.

CHIP 101.9 had a chance to talk with some of the individuals who spoke during the meeting. First, from the Club Quad Pontiac, Eric Pilon, explained what they were asking for in particular:

Ffrom the Club Moto-Neige Pingouin, Philippe Pilon, discussed the issue in regards to the snowmobiles using the PPJ and the funding required to maintain the trails all year round:

Also on this matter, from the Pontiac Snowmobile Drivers Association, Alain Goulet, talked about the funding necessary for maintaining the PPJ, if there is the lack of funding from the Green PPJ funding incentive by the Quebec Government.

On the opposite side of the spectrum, from the organisation Green PPJ Vert, Remo Pasters, presented documents and studies supporting the PPJ as a cycloparc:

In response to the questions and documents, the Warden of the MRC, Jane Toller said that the mayors are looking in to find a solution that will satisfy everyone. During the meeting, it was mentioned that the MRC is currently applying for a grant of $125, 000 for maintaining the PPJ in 2019.
