The flooding situation is still being closely monitored in Rapides-des-Joachims. Over the last few hours the water level of the Ottawa River has increased considerably. The director general of the municipality, Sylvain Bégin, confirmed to CHIP 101.9 that the river is approaching Main Street. The dike has since been reinforced to protect this area.

The ZEC Rapides-des-Joachims was also affected. Two culverts were damaged at km 15 and km 32. The trail is not passable and quads are asked to avoid the area. Repair work should be done in the next few hours.

It should also be noted that Public Safety analyzed the bridge leading from the island to the ZEC. The bridge seems to be safe but should be subjected to future work as a preventive measure.

In total, so far, four residences have been affected by the floods in Rapides-des-Joachims.
