Proposed changes in the record of payments of the MRC offense reports

31 January 2019 à 12:00 am

Following last year’s fraud committed by a former employee of RPGL Avocats firm amounting to about $170,000, the MRC Pontiac said it still analyzes the procedures in order to prevent any risk of embezzlement in the future.

CHIP 101.9 learned that the MRC wishes, in the future, to associate with another MRC to manage infraction payments to municipal by-laws issued on the territory. Today, these services are offered by the law firm RPGL Avocats, which has had an agreement with the MRC Pontiac since 2006.

The Warden of MRC Jane Toller assured that the MRC Pontiac plans to continue its agreement with RPGL Avocats until a formal decision is made. She indicated that the MRC des Collines-de-l’Outaouais could possibly offer this service.

It may be important to note that the ex-employee of RPGL, Colette Morrissette, appeared at the courthouse in Gatineau on May 24th, 2018 for facing fraud charges, forgery, use of forged documents and identity fraud. She pleaded guilty to these charges and is currently serving a two-year sentence for stealing more than $ 170,000 from the payments of municipal by-laws issued in the territory of the MRC between January 1st, 2012 and December 31st, 2017 by various schemes.
