Poppy funds stolen from Pembroke convenience stores

(PEMBROKE, ON) – The Upper Ottawa Valley Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) is currently investigating after money was stolen from poppy sales boxes at two Mac’s Convenience stores in the City of Pembroke.

On November 13, 2017 it was reported that a male suspect wearing an all-black hat, red shirt, black zippered hoodie and black jacket entered the Mac’s Convenience Store in the 300 block of Pembroke Street East in the City of Pembroke and stole the funds from the poppy sales box and a quantity of candy. A long-haired second male suspect wearing a black hat with a red brim, a light coloured hoodie and black jacket stole a quantity of candy. The thefts took place just before midnight on November 11, 2017. Photos of both suspects are attached.

Also on November 13, 2017 the Mac’s Convenience store on Pembroke Street West in the City of Pembroke reported the theft of money from the poppy sales box sometime on or about November 7 and 8, 2017. It is unknown if the thefts are related and police are continuing to investigate.

Police are seeking assistance from the public to identify the suspects in the photos. Anyone with information regarding these incidents is asked to contact the Pembroke Detachment of the Upper Ottawa Valley OPP at 613-732-3332 or Pembroke/Renfrew County Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
