From September 1 to 4, police officers of the Sûreté du Québec carried out numerous operations to ensure the safety of off everyone on the roadways in all regions of Québec during the Labor Day holiday weekend.

Despite awareness-raising campaigns, prior to this long weekend, police officers reported over 5,000 violations of the Highway Safety Code province wide, including speeding, failure to wear seat belts, and the use of a cell phone while driving. In addition, they arrested 90 people for impaired driving. Also, a fatal collision occurred during this period.

The Sûreté du Québec reminds the public that the risk of collisions increases exponentially while speeding. They encourage every road user to reduce their speed, respect the road signs and laws and to be vigilant and plan their route ahead of time.
