The board of directors of the Piscine Pontiac Pool project issued a press release January 27th on the results of its six week survey given to the Pontiac population. According to the results, 83% of the respondents found that an Aqua-Gym center in the Pontiac would be “very important” to have. It was also mentioned that the membership fees as well as the planned regular use of the facility was “strongly” supported in the survey.

The chair of the Board of Directors Todd Hoffman said he was “pleased” with the results.

“This is great news and very encouraging as we prepare our business plan submitting it, for funding, to the provincial government in February”, he said. “We are very concerned about the poor health of the Pontiac and the time has come to improve it. With this facility, we can do that. We are launching major fundraising plans and we need everyone to help us! ”

Hoffman added that about 600 people responded to the survey.

The survey, conducted online and by phone, aimed to collect data on the feasibility of a health and wellness center in Fort-Coulonge. The concept for this project is expected to include a large water slide and a swimming pool, a 25-meter pool with 4 lanes, an aqua fitness facilities, a two-level gym and several other elements.
