The pilot project for the collection of agricultural plastics on farms located in MRC Pontiac has taken another step, according to the Regional Council for the Environment and Sustainable Development of the Outaouais (CREDDO). Over the past week, more than 5 tons of plastics collected and baled by participating farmers in the project have been delivered to Modix Plastique Inc. located in Lachute. The plastics will be shredded, washed and then extruded into small white pellets that can be used in the manufacture of other products by North American manufacturers. The exceptional quality of the recovered plastics was highlighted by the recycler.

The MRC Pontiac pilot project began in the spring of 2021 and currently has 22 participants and aims to add 15 more during this year. Discussions are also underway between CREDDO and 3 other MRCs for the implementation of similar projects in their territories starting this year.
