Users of the résidences privées pour aînés (RPA) (private seniors’ residences) can now go outside without supervision.
“Autonomous people have been isolated for two months. For the past two months, they have lost their freedom. It’s not human. It’s important for mental health to get some fresh air, "said Quebec Premier, François Legault, on Tuesday.
Until now, confinement has been mandatory for all residents of the RPA, regardless of their age. This flexibility will allow them to preserve their usual independence and autonomy as well as to maintain their achievements.
Residents must however ensure that they maintain a distance of 2 meters from other people at all times. Respecting the physical distance, a loved one can also meet a resident outside the residence.
Upon returning to their homes, infection prevention and control measures must be applied rigorously.
