Outbreak at the Pontiac Hospital : Jane Toller expressed her concern

24 April 2021 à 12:00 am

The Warden of the MRC Pontiac, Jane Toller, expressed her concern about the outbreak situation at the Pontiac Hospital located in Shawville. Jane Toller believes that the situation is fragile and she asks for the collaboration of the population.
“Dear residents of the Pontiac,

Today, we learned that we have an outbreak of positive COVID-19 cases at the Pontiac Hospital in Shawville. The CISSSO informed me this morning, and as of now, there are 9 patients and less than 5 employees who have tested positive. These people are in isolation and we are awaiting further test results for another 15 people. At this point, no one requires intensive care. If that should change, those patients will be transported to Gatineau. The Hospital will not close as we need it to remain open for the needs of the Pontiac population. We know that the UK Variant is highly contagious and that we have recently experienced some outbreaks in our schools. The situation is very fragile at the moment and I am asking everyone to please stay at home. Please respect the curfew of 8 p.m. and remember that gatherings are not permitted inside or outside your home. Please continue to wear your masks and stay 2 metres apart from others. Soon we will begin the vaccination campaign for the general population of adults 45 and under. Thank you again to the many Pontiac residents who have stepped forward to give their time and help with the vaccine roll-out. We all need to work together, and I know that we will be successful eradicating this virus. Please keep the health of the Pontiac in your prayers, especially for all of those who have COVID-19. Thank you.

-Jane Toller”
