After winning the Eastern division finals of the Ontario University Atheletics (UAO) 2-0 in a best of 3 against the Concordia Stringers, the Ottawa University Men’s hockey team (Gee-Gees) will now face Guelph University (Gryphons) for the Queen’s Cup this Saturday in Guelph in a best of 1.
Leading the Gee-Gees this year as Captain is the Litchfield native, Quinn O’Brien, who stood out in the playoffs with dominant performances, nearly equaling his stats throughout the season, with 2 goals and an assist.
Following the game against Guelph, the Gee-gees will then compete in the 2020 U sports Men’s Hockey University Cup (Nationals). The 58th annual tournament will be held from March 12-16 in Halifax, Nova Scotia. Eight teams will compete in a single elimination tournament and Bronze medal games with the 3 conference champions and 3 conference runner-ups including the OUA Bronze winner and the tournament host.
The Three Conferences are Atlantic University Sport, The Canada West Universities Athletic Association and the Ontario University Athletics.
Note; the Ottawa Gee-gees are currently ranked #3 in the U sports national rankings.
