A woman died in the municipality of Pontiac last night due to water levels on Clarendon Street.

It would seem that a culvert gave out causing the women’s vehicle to be submerged in a sinkhole. Mayor Joanne Labadie said the culvert, located in west of Quyon, was washed away around 3:30 am on Saturday morning.

Another person was injured at that location, but the extent of her injuries is still as of yet unknown, said the mayor.

With this “tragic” death, the Municipality of Pontiac recommends that people be “very vigilant” on the roads.
