Municipality of Pontiac: taxation for victims and inspections of properties

The municipality of Pontiac posted on their Facebook page yesterday more details in regards to the 2019 floods in the municipality. Specifically in regards to the taxation for victims and the inspections of residences to potentially allow reintegration.

Taxation
The municipal council recently held a special meeting, on Friday, May 24, 2019, to postpone the next tax payment for the residents in flooded areas. The next installment for municipal taxes, scheduled for June 1st, will be postponed until August 1st 2019, without interest, for affected residents.

Inspections
It’s important to note that evacuation notices are still in effect in the Municipality of Pontiac until further notice. The Municipality’s Fire Department started conducting a safety inspection of affected residents, on Saturday, May 25, on the following roads to provide a written authorization notice regarding the possible reintegration on:

– Chemin Gingembre
– Croissant de la Sarriette
– Chemin Royal
– Chemin Clavelle
– Avenues des Noyers
– Chemin des Bouleaux
– Avenue des Peupliers
– Avenues des Vacanciers
– Chemin Bergeron
– Chemin Dollard
– Chemin Charron
– Chemin Cedervale

As of yesterday’s post on the municipality’s Facebook page; 48 of the 108 affected homes have been inspected and the fire department will proceed with inspections today, May 28th 2019, during late afternoon and early evening (no inspections will be done in the dark or in the event of bad weather).

Until Further notice, the municipality is asking its residents to remain vigilant while driving on municipal roads as a result of possible obstacles that may be on the roads.
