The Quebec court rejected Alain Goulet’s claim for $ 15,000 in damages from the Municipality of Pontiac. Alain Goulet was suing the municipality of Pontiac following his forced evacuation during the 2017 floods. Mr. Goulet maintained that the municipality was at fault for forcing him to leave his priorities and that in his opinion he ran no risk and that this evacuation caused him inconvenience.

In the copy of the judgment dated July 12, the court concludes that the flood has certainly had an impact on the plaintiff’s life, but that the actions of the municipality and the events show that the municipality did not commit any wrongdoing. Judge Patsy Bouthillette therefore dismissed Mr. Goulet’s claim.
