Modernization of the Endoscopy Unit at the Pontiac Hospital Center

Health Minister Gaétan Barrette and the Minister of Transport, Pontiac MNA André Fortin, announced at a press conference yesterday morning that the Pontiac Hospital will modernize its endoscopy department. This will be a major improving in the quality and safety of these diagnostic services. More than $ 900,000 is available to the CISSS de l’Outaouais for this upgrade.

The endoscopy procedure uses an endoscope to examine the interior of a hollow organ or cavity of the body. MNA André Fortin Says that there is more and more of these procedures being used in diagnostic medicine.

Work will be done to bring the endoscope space up to standards, which will be moved the a separated procedure room. The preparation area will be separated in respect to patient privacy and allow individual meetings with healthcare professionals. The reception and recovery areas will remain shared with day surgery. The work is expected to be completed by early 2019.
