Following the Parti Québécois National Congress held last week, the Outaouais Chapter issued a communiqué mentioning that some forty Outaouais delegates, some of whom from to the Pontiac Party chapter, been very active and particularly effective in workshops and plenary sessions. “Several proposals have been adopted reflecting major issues in our region,” according to Robert Drapeau, regional president of the Parti Québécois.

Among other things, they pointed out that the members tried to make the Outaouais recognized as a strategic region in Quebec, as a border region and as a gateway to Quebec, to safeguard the French character of the Outaouais, particularly through the francization of courses at the Gatineau School of Medicine in 2020, to secure significant investments in the health sector and at the level of college and university education, in order to counter our dependence on services in Ontario, diversify the economy and put an end to the interregional imbalance affecting the Outaouais for decades.
