The municipality of l’Île-du-Grand-Calumet has announced that Mayor Serge Newberry will take a break for health reasons.

No further details were provided at the time of writing this article. Acting Mayor, Alice Meilleur-Pieschke, should take over during this absence, notably during the meetings of the MRC Pontiac.

The regular May municipal meeting of l’Île-du-Grand-Calumet was to take place this Monday evening, but it has been postponed to May 21st.

Last week, the municipality said that Mayor Newberry was to send out a press release, after he refused to speak to CHIP 101.9 and comment on the incident with councilor Réjean Meilleur.

The director general of the municipality, who is also on sick leave, should be back on May 22nd.
