Mayor Doris Ranger talks Sheenboro

Sheenboro Mayor Doris Ranger was one of the six mayors in MRC Pontiac elected by acclamation. She said she was pleased to be back in her post unopposed.

“Well it feels pretty good to think that my municipality has faith in me for another four years, which is great,” she said.

When asked about the accomplishments over the past four years that she was particularly proud of, she pointed to the Residence Meilleur project, which was a collaboration between several municipalities to build a seniors residence for their citizens.

She said that one of her goals for the next term would be to try and grow the small municipality, which had 255 registered electors in the 2017 election. She pointed in particular to the program rolled out jointly by the provincial and federal governments to improve high speed internet access to the region. The upper Pontiac in particular is notorious for poor internet and cell phone service and Ranger said that improvements were “a long time coming”.
